1927

Founding of a cooperage by Robert Baumann in Ebersdorf near Coburg. After the Second World War, the cooper’s trade experienced a brief revival before eventually coming to a halt due to industrialization. Wooden containers were replaced by metal ones.

1952

The shift to toy production laid the foundation for today's roba Baumann GmbH.

1957

Participation in the International Toy Fair, Nuremberg.

1970s

Production of the first children's seating groups paved the way for becoming a children's furniture manufacturer.
Expansion of the toy and furniture business areas.
Start of procurement internationalization.

1985

Production of the first children's furniture collections in Hungary in collaboration with the kitchen and furniture company Tisza Bútoripari Vállalat RT.
Start of wooden product manufacturing in Indonesia.

1990s

Gradual relocation of wood production to China, establishment of the first joint ventures. Development of the company into a full-range supplier through continuous expansion of the product range to include home textiles, baby accessories, and travel items.
Internationalization of roba's sales.

2002

Relaunch of the roba brand appearance: Introduction of the new corporate identity and corporate design.
Introduction of the roba motto “Discovering Children's Worlds” and relaunch of the website www.roba-kinderwelt.de

September 2004

roba Baumann GmbH expanded its product range by acquiring the Hungarian kitchen and furniture company Tisza Bútoripari Vállat RT, opening new production and distribution channels in Europe. The new corporate strategy focuses on high-quality children's and youth furniture, produced in Hungary at the highest technical standards and marketed directly to the European market as flexible, growing complete solutions.

2004/2005

roba Baumann GmbH opened a new chapter in its company history with the establishment of “Zhejiang Deqing roba Furniture Co. Ltd.” At the new location, 800 employees will produce roba branded products characterized by quality, safety, and child-friendly design. These products are intended to invite children to “discover worlds” and enhance the beautiful, shared moments of closeness between parents and children.

The main reasons for investing in the new production facility are to further optimize product quality, increase production capacity, and ensure the timely supply of all roba distribution channels with safe, trend-oriented products. With Zhejiang Deqing roba Furniture Co. Ltd., the entire production process — from the sawmill to assembly and painting — will be unified under one roof. This allows the production steps, from raw wood to the final product, to be perfectly coordinated and makes the company largely independent of suppliers.

October 2009

Relocation and expansion to Feldstraße 14, 96237 Ebersdorf near Coburg.

2015

Establishment of the production of organic baby accessories made from solid beech wood in Europe.

2016

Modernization of the production facilities at roba Tisza KFT.

2017

Construction of a warehouse and logistics center in Hungary near the production site.

Today

Management of the company by the fourth generation of the owner family.
